Fourier Transform IR Spectrometer : ATI Matson Infinity 60 AR
FTIR offers quantitative and qualitative analysis for organic and inorganic samples. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) identifies chemical bonds in a molecule by producing an infrared absorption spectrum.
FTIR is an effective analytical instrument for detecting functional groups and characterizing covalent bonding information. When a sample is irradiated with IR energy, vibrations are caused within the molecule. This may cause a change in the dipole moment of the molecule, resulting in IR absorption. The pattern of these absorptions for a molecule is the IR spectrum and generally unique for a particular compound. Comparison of the IR spectrum of an unknown material with that of a known standard is a powerful identification tool.
Solid, Liquid, Films, Granular, Organic, Inorganic, Zeolites, Polymers, Biomass, etc. are the types oftype of matrices that can be analyzed on the instrument .
