Technologies for robust structural health monitoring of critical infrastructure and conservation & restoration of heritage structures. Image Technologies for robust structural health monitoring of critical infrastructure and conservation & restoration of heritage structures., (Year : 2018)

India is one of the countries having rich, ancient culture which is represented by artefacts and monuments present all over India. Environmental pollutants such as acid rain, bacterial load and air pollution have damaged these precious heritage structures over the years and these may be lost in near future. Since, the heritage monuments are sensitive to chemical treatments owing to their natural construction and use of natural dyes, their cleaning needs to be addressed sensitively. Hence, sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) and nitrogen reducing bacteria (NRB) innoculum will be studied and tested as biocleaning tools to remove salts deformities on the heritage structures which are mainly responsible for spoiling them. In this study, we are also focusing on the biological aspect of using bacteriophages as antimicrobial agents to reduce microbial load and bacteria-mediated spoilage of heritage structures. The main objective of this study is to conserve and protect the heritage structures in India.

Novel agar based bed method for efficient isolation and enrichment of bacteriophages against specific host. Image Novel agar based bed method for efficient isolation and enrichment of bacteriophages against specific host., (Year : 2018)

The main objective of this study is to develop simple and efficient bacteriophage isolation and enrichment technique which could be suitable protocol at lab scale as well as in industrial scale. In this study , we are going to use specific media agar bead for isolation and enrichment of bacteriophage from environmental water sample.Objective-To develop an efficient and reproducible method for isolation and enrichment of cocktail bacteriophages selectively against specific bacteria coupled with specific media agar beads.

A detailed study on non-putrefying property of river Ganges in both sediment and water. (G-1-2298) Image A detailed study on non-putrefying property of river Ganges in both sediment and water. (G-1-2298), (Year : 2017)

The Ganga basin has been center of rapid urbanization leading to altering the water quality of the River Ganga and the interactive environment of the River system. While attempting to carry out a scientific study to understand the water quality and special properties of the River Ganga, it is necessary to examine the River in its entirety, as a dynamic and interactive river system. There are numerous factors which are interdependent and interact to impact the water quality of the River Ganga. The study identified the trend of bacteriophages against pathogenic, non-pathogenic and opportunistic pathogenic bacterial isolates in water and sediment was same. The fresh water sedimentary metagenome-viromes differed from the earlier viromes collected from other fresh water sediments. The fresh water sediments from the River Ganga not only housed novel viromes, but also included unexplored double stranded DNA viruses. Importantly, Ganga River house important bacteriophages and other microbiomes which can be related to its non-putrefying properties. Being highly analytics and interdisciplinary intensive, this project will provide a strong scientific rationale to understand bacteriophage and microbial population diversity, purifying properties of the Ganga and disease predications. This study will provide a model system and validatable parameters for other rivers of India. The bacteriophages as antimicrobial agent may prove to have important role in non-putrefying and self-cleansing properties of Ganga.

Microbiological And Physico-Chemical Studies of Bathing Water Facility at CSIR-NEERI Residential Campus (OLP-46) Image Microbiological And Physico-Chemical Studies of Bathing Water Facility at CSIR-NEERI Residential Campus (OLP-46), (Year : 2016)

The objective of this study is to isolate and characterise the bacteria from swimming pool after interfering with the human activity. This study is to isolate & characterize pathogenic bacteria which are considered to be one of the important potential health problem .

Objective:

1.To monitor bacterial indicators of pollution and isolation of specific pathogenic bacteria from bathing water pool.

2. Quantitative analysis of pathogenic bacteria by culture based method and real time PCR.

3. Isolation and characterisation of chlorine resistant bacterial isolate.
