Comprehensive information support for R&D programmes of the Institute is provided through project oriented information packages on request, based on extensive literature search from published, unpublished and electronic resources and organization of information into packages.

The library provides electronic access facility for full text journals, databases and CD resources for the scientists of the Institute. Access to over 3500 scholarly and peer reviewed S & T journals and reference books from international publishers like Elsevier, Springer, Oxford University Press, Taylor and Francis, John Wiley as also from international professional agencies such as American Chemical Society, ASCE, Royal Society of Chemistry and IEEE is also provided. Access to open access journals viz., Current Science, Environmental Health Perspectives, Down to Earth and CSIR journals for TOC abstract is also provided. Online databases covered under the digital library programme include : bibliographic, statistical, standards and patent databases. Library’s Intranet page acts as a single interface for the users to directly access and online resources library.

Information pertaining to NEERI research output including papers in international and national journals is monitored and organized. Bibliometric analysis is carried out and disseminated to the scientists.

The library envisions availability of latest information for its users and building a collection of latest resources is a continuous activity. For active participation of users in collection development, book exhibitions are arranged and selection of best and latest books is made. Special efforts are made to acquire Hindi books in Environmental Science and allied subjects. Latest electronic resources and A-V collection is yet another dimension of the information resource base.

Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), (Year : 2015)

Access to Library’s information resources is available through OPAC of books and of selected journal articles by Indian authors in environmental science and engineering. Searches can be made by author, title, keywords and subject.

Photocopies of research papers are provided to outside individuals and organisations on request. Photocopying charges are Rs 2 /- per page plus service charge and handling.

Environmental Information Organization is a major activity of the NEERI Library whereby access to bibliographical information has been facilitated through inhouse databases developed using LibSys and CDS-ISIS bibliographic database softwares.
