सीएसआईआर-राष्ट्रीय पर्यावरण अभियांत्रिकी अनुसंधान संस्थान (सीएसआईआर-नीरी) एक अनुसंधान संस्थान है, जिसकी स्थापना भारत सरकार द्वारा की गई और उसे वित्त पोषित किया गया है। इसकी स्थापना 1958 में नागपुर में की गई थी, जिसका मुख्य उद्देश्य जल आपूर्ति, मल निकासी, संक्रामक रोगों और औद्योगिक प्रदूषण पर ध्यान केंद्रित करना था। नीरी पर्यावरण विज्ञान और अभियांत्रिकी के क्षेत्र में अग्रणी संस्थान है और यह वैज्ञानिक एवं औद्योगिक अनुसंधान परिषद (सीएसआईआर) के अधीन कार्य करता है। वैज्ञानिक एवं औद्योगिक अनुसंधान परिषद (सीएसआईआर) विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी के विविध क्षेत्रों में अत्याधुनिक अनुसंधान एवं विकास ज्ञान आधार के लिए जानी जाती है और यह विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार के अधीन एक आधुनिक अनुसंधान संस्था है। सीएसआईआर-नीरी की पांच क्षेत्रीय प्रयोगशालाएँ चेन्नई, दिल्ली, हैदराबाद, कोलकाता और मुंबई में स्थित हैं।

सीएसआईआर-नीरी वैज्ञानिक अनुसंधान, प्रौद्योगिकी विकास और परामर्श सेवाओं के माध्यम से आधुनिक और परिवर्तनीय पर्यावरणीय चुनौतियों का समाधान करने के लिए समर्पित है। इसके प्रमुख फोकस क्षेत्र हैं: पर्यावरण निगरानी, प्रदूषण न्यूनीकरण, अपशिष्ट प्रबंधन, जलवायु परिवर्तन, प्रभाव मूल्यांकन और पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र सेवाएं। संस्थान स्वच्छ भारत मिशन, स्वच्छ वायु, नदी कायाकल्प पहल, विकसित भारत, सतत अपशिष्ट प्रबंधन रणनीतियों और कार्बन पृथक्करण कार्यक्रमों सहित राष्ट्रीय प्राथमिकता कार्यक्रमों में सक्रिय रूप से योगदान दे रहा है। यह संस्थान विभिन्न अंतरराष्ट्रीय कार्यक्रमों और संधियों से भी जुड़ा हुआ है। सीएसआईआर-नीरी स्थिरता के समर्थन के लिए डिकार्बोनाइजेशन और प्रकृति आधारित समाधानों पर बल देता है। एक अंतर्विषयक दृष्टिकोण के माध्यम से यह सतत प्रथाओं, संसाधन दक्षता, परिपत्र अर्थव्यवस्था पहलों और हरित नवाचारों को एकीकृत करता है ताकि पर्यावरणीय और जलवायु लक्ष्यों को आगे बढ़ाया जा सके। सरकारी एजेंसियों, उद्योगों और अंतरराष्ट्रीय संगठनों के साथ सहयोगात्मक अनुसंधान के माध्यम से, संस्थान वैज्ञानिक आधार पर नवोन्मेषी समाधान विकसित करता है जो पर्यावरणीय प्रभाव को कम करते हुए आर्थिक और सामाजिक प्रगति को बढ़ावा देते हैं। सीएसआईआर-नीरी ग्रामीण विकास में भी योगदान देता है, जैसे कि जल शुद्धिकरण, अपशिष्ट प्रबंधन और स्वच्छ ईंधन समाधान लागू कर स्वास्थ्य में सुधार करना। संस्थान ज्ञान प्रसार और क्षमता निर्माण कार्यक्रमों के माध्यम से पेशेवरों, छात्रों, नीति निर्माताओं और उद्योग हितधारकों को सशक्त बनाते हुए कौशल विकास को प्राथमिकता देता है। ये पहलकदमी पर्यावरण प्रबंधन, नियामक अनुपालन और उभरती हरित तकनीकों में विशेषज्ञता को बढ़ावा देती हैं। समर्पित वैज्ञानिकों और तकनीकी विशेषज्ञों की विविध टीम के साथ, सीएसआईआर-नीरी स्वच्छ, हरित और अधिक लचीले भविष्य की दिशा में सतत पर्यावरणीय समाधानों के अग्रणी पथ पर कार्य कर रहा है।

श्री वीराल सुरेश तामगाडगे, परियोजना सहायक–II, ने डॉ. अनिल भनारकर, वैज्ञानिक–G, वायु गुणवत्ता प्रबंधन प्रभाग, सीएसआईआर-नीरी के मार्गदर्शन में विषयक अपने शोध कार्य हेतु सतत पर्यावरण के लिए स्वच्छ प्रौद्योगिकियों में नवीनतम प्रवृत्तियों पर चौथे अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन (CTSE 2026) में सर्वश्रेष्ठ पोस्टर पुरस्कार प्राप्त किया।

सीएसआईआर-नीरी की प्रधान वैज्ञानिक डॉ. शालिनी ध्यानी को जैव विविधता और पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र सेवाओं पर दूसरे वैश्विक मूल्यांकन के लिए समन्वय प्रमुख लेखक के रूप में आईपीबीईएस के बहु-विषयक विशेषज्ञ पैनल द्वारा चयनित करके अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मान्यता प्राप्त हुई है।

सीएसआईआर-नीरी कोलकाता के प्रधान वैज्ञानिक डॉ. अनिरबन मिड्डी ने बैंकॉक, थाईलैंड में आयोजित वायु प्रदूषण उत्सर्जन सूची पर क्षेत्रीय क्षमता निर्माण कार्यक्रम (9-12 सितंबर 2025) के लिए एशिया-प्रशांत क्षेत्र के 700 आवेदकों में से 30 विशेषज्ञों में से एक के रूप में चयनित होकर अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मान्यता प्राप्त की।

सीएसआईआर-नीरी के वरिष्ठ प्रधान वैज्ञानिक डॉ. सुनील कुमार को वैज्ञानिक अनुसंधान, नवाचार और स्थिरता में उनके उत्कृष्ट योगदान के लिए वर्ष 2025 के लिए प्रतिष्ठित आईईएम उत्कृष्टता अनुसंधान पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया है।

पर्यावरण, वन एवं जलवायु परिवर्तन मंत्रालय (MoEFCC) ने सीएसआईआर-नीरी की वरिष्ठ वैज्ञानिक डॉ. देबिश्री खान को भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व करने हेतु नामित किया, जो 12वें वार्षिक पैटपा (PATPA) रिट्रीट पर पेरिस समझौते की पारदर्शिता से संबंधित बैठक में बैंकॉक, थाईलैंड में 28 अगस्त – 2 सितम्बर 2025 को आयोजित हुई।

सीएसआईआर-नीरी में एसीएसआईआर पीएचडी छात्रा सुश्री रश्मि ठाकरे (सूर्यवंशी) को 66वें राष्ट्रीय संगोष्ठी 2025 (हैदराबाद) में उत्कृष्टता प्रमाण पत्र के साथ राष्ट्रीय मान्यता प्राप्त हुई।

कुमारी प्राची, कुमारी अनुषा और कुमारी नमिता ने "बी एंटीबायोटिक स्मार्ट: द फ्यूचर इज़ इन योर हैंड्स" विषय पर कोलाज प्रतियोगिता में दूसरा पुरस्कार जीता।

श्री अंकित कुमार, AcSIR पीएच.डी. शोधार्थी को “काले सिपाही मक्खी के लार्वा की भूमिका सतत अपशिष्ट प्रबंधन और औद्योगिक अनुप्रयोगों में” पर उनके कार्य हेतु सर्वश्रेष्ठ पोस्टर पुरस्कार प्राप्त हुआ।

डॉ. विनय प्रताप, AcSIR पीएच.डी. छात्र, जिन्होंने मई 2025 में डॉ. भोलू राम यादव, वरिष्ठ वैज्ञानिक, CSIR-NEERI के मार्गदर्शन में अपनी पीएच.डी. सफलतापूर्वक पूरी की। उन्होंने भारत सरकार के उपक्रम पावर ग्रिड कॉर्पोरेशन ऑफ इंडिया लिमिटेड में पर्यावरण प्रबंधन अधिकारी प्रशिक्षु (Officer Trainee - Environment Management) के रूप में एक प्रतिष्ठित पद प्राप्त किया है।

डॉ. एस. वेंकट मोहन, निदेशक, CSIR-NEERI को विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी में उत्कृष्टता पुरस्कार, एकेडमी फॉर साइंस, टेक्नोलॉजी एंड कम्युनिकेशन एवं NASI हैदराबाद चैप्टर द्वारा प्रदान किया गया। यह पुरस्कार 11 मई 2025 को CSIR-IICT, हैदराबाद में तेलंगाना के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री जिष्णु देव वर्मा द्वारा प्रदान किया गया।
