Introduction

Vertical-6: CSIR-NEERI Delhi Zonal Centre

CSIR-NEERI, Delhi Zonal Laboratory (DZL) established in 1959 is a supporting arm of CSIR-NEERI Head Quarter for its activities in the Northern Region. Presently DZL has well furnished laboratory with various sophisticated instruments and expertise in various environmental fields. DZL is handling individual projects (Consultancy & R&D). DZL has five scientist, one Technical Officer, one DST Young Scientist, two Technical Assistants and two administrative staff (Annexure A). DZL is equipped with instrumental facilities as detailed in (Annexure B). It also houses a working library with around 800 books. DZL is conducting training programmes, workshops and conferences. CSIR-NEERI, DZL has following mandate.

  • Ambient/ Indoor/ Workplace air quality monitoring and management
  • Ambient air quality compliance studies as per revised NAAQS, CPCB
  • Stack and fugitive emission monitoring
  • Monitoring of trace air pollutants including organic carbon and elemental carbon
  • Monitoring of ambient sound level and its assessment
  • Emission inventory studies
  • Drinking/ Irrigation/ Surface water/ Groundwater monitoring and its characterization
  • Assessment of microbial contamination in the Drinking/ Irrigation/ Surface water/ Groundwater
  • Surveillance of drinking water quality
  • Performance evaluation of ETP s & CETPs
  • Performance evaluation of water / waste water/industrial waste water treatment facilities
  • Water conservation and environmental protection of the water bodies Lakes and Ponds
  • Municipal Solid Waste Management
  • Environmental Impact and Risk Assessment
  • Assessment of Hon’ble High Court PILs Cases
