Development of Low cost Oxidation Catalysts for Diesel Exhaust Emission Control, (Year : 2018)
Development of non-Pt group metal catalysts for automobile, diesel soot oxidations. Low-cost, non-Pt based catalysts (e.g., Strontium-based perovskites) are being explored for diesel soot oxidation, which showed higher catalytic activity compared to the reported non-noble catalysts and at par with those commercial high cost platinum catalysts. Indian patent application has been submitted to CSIR-IPMD on these potential catalyst compositions.

H2S emission testing of RelBitS during hot mixing of bitumen, (Year : 2018)
Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) has developed a sulphur based novel product named RelBitS (additive), which is added into the heated aggregate along with bitumen to be used for road pavement application. It is claimed that addition of sulfur improves the properties of bitumen at the cost of release of H2S emission during hot mixing. This product needs being tested at CSIR-NEERI for quantified results on H2S emissions during hot mixing of bitumen for CSIR-CRRI to develop guidelines for the use of newly developed additive. These tests would help the industries to use sulphur based additive to road pavement application.

Design and study of photo-system for protection of heritage structures against nocturnal insect's species , (Year : 2018)
Generally, many insect species get attracted towards historically important monuments and structure due to changing environmental conditions, increasing pollution load, illumination and material. Proposed work has potential to improve the life and aesthetic of national monuments in long run and preserve them for future generations. Study will provide unique solution for each monument using site specific baseline information, knowledge drawn using opto-electronic, entomology and environmental engineering. Hence, the combined output of the project will provide sustainable environmental solution for monument protection. During replication of the management plan and hardware modules, the wavelength of photo system is proposed to change as per specific insect species found near identified heritage monument.

Assessment of Water Quality and Sediments Analysis to understand the Special Property of Ganga River NMCG Project, (Year : 2016)
The division is also working on characterization of sediments from Ganga river under the Namami Gange Mission. The protocols developed under this project are currently extended to study non-putrefying property of Ganga River. The applicant and his team collected the samples at an upper stretch (from Gangotri to Haridwar D/S) of Ganga River and has submitted a report entitled "Studies on Sediments of Ganga River" to NMCG.
